During his official visit to the UAE, the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell stressed that Expo 2020 Dubai is an ideal opportunity to confirm the EU's commitment to international cooperation and multilateralism in response to global challenges and to build a common understanding on how to deal with these challenges
Expo 2020 Dubai will be an important opportunity to prepare for a more sustainable future by engaging with participants from all over the world in one of the largest global events to be held since the outbreak of the Covid-19 epidemic
More than 40 events and sessions will be organized by the European Union institutions to review European efforts in addressing global challenges within the framework of Expo 2020 Dubai's core themes: Opportunity, Mobility and Sustainability
In partnership with European Union member states, focusing on five main themes: sustainability, the European Green Deal and climate change; food, agriculture and health; innovation and digitization; inclusivity and equality with a focus on empowering women; and trade and economic cooperation
Borrell added: “The EU is committed to supporting the internal transformation and economic diversification efforts of the UAE within the framework of our bilateral cooperation. I look forward to discussing these important issues in detail with our Emirati partners during my visit to the UAE this week”
The Honorary Day of the European Union on October 23 will be an occasion to celebrate the participation of the European Union in Expo 2020 Dubai along with the Member States through cultural activities with young artists and cultural workers from Europe and the rest of the world in order to promote diversity and dialogue between cultures
